Asfixia Social is a band with Punk Rock, Reggae and Hip Hop influences, with freedom ideology, not limited to an specific style, flirting with ROCK, RAP, SKA, HARDCORE, BRAZILIAN MUSIC, and much more, in a true crossover of references that dialogue with the authenticity of the streets. Like they say themselves: THE SOUND IS FROM THE STREETS TO THE STREETS!
Those who know the underground scene have probably seen Asfixia Social arriving in a graffiti-covered Kombi for always energetic shows. After releasing the albums Da Rua pra Rua and Sistema de Soma, the band released the EP Ao vivo na Showlivre and concluded their second European tour. They promise to release new singles in the second half of 2023: Tiro no Escuro (feat MV Bill) and Traffic Lights (feat John Keithley - D.O.A.), which set the stage for their new album of original songs in 2024!
Na het uitbrengen van de albums “Da Rua pra Rua” (2012) en “Sistema de Soma” (2020), naast de dvd’s Live in São Paulo (2013) en Live in Cuba (2015), verscheen Asfixia Social voor de onafhankelijke scene en werd een van de meest actieve formaties van Brazilië, met honderden shows in het hele land en in het buitenland, uitgenodigd voor belangrijke Braziliaanse evenementen en overzeese festivals in Engeland, Frankrijk, Nederland, Duitsland, Schotland, Cuba en Portugal. In 2019 gaven ze 54 concerten, waarvan 15 in Europa. In 2022 waren er 40 shows, waarvan 20 tijdens hun tweede Europese tournee.
Met het aanstaande nieuwe album “Bleeding in the Sun” – dat officieel uitkomt in mei/2024, was Asfixia Social bij de Engelse band The Varukers tijdens hun Braziliaanse tournee en kondigde nieuwe shows aan in Duitsland, Nederland, België, Engeland en Portugal voor Juni/2024, bevestigd op belangrijke festivals zoals het Hoorn City Festival (NL), Wilwarin Festival (Ellerdorf, DE) en Youth Brigade Festival (Dortmund, DE).
